Google’s NotebookLM, the generative AI platform, has recently introduced new features that enhance its capabilities. As of September, users can now utilize Audio Overviews to create podcasts that can be voiced by the AI itself. Furthermore, NotebookLM has expanded its sources by accepting audio files and YouTube video links, allowing users to leverage its advanced functionalities.
With the inclusion of audio files, NotebookLM can now process common formats like MP3 or WAV, enabling users to upload recordings directly. Similarly, users can easily incorporate YouTube videos by simply copy-pasting the video link into the platform. Additionally, NotebookLM can accept Markdown, PDF, or TXT files, as well as text pasted directly into the platform. Google’s integration of its Workspace suite also enables content from Docs, Slides, and Websites to be utilized for note-taking purposes.
The new sources added to NotebookLM undergo the same processing as previous ones. The platform can analyze recordings or videos, extracting key points that are relevant to users’ studies or tasks. It can also summarize entire lectures and focus on insights derived from the source material. Moreover, NotebookLM can transform handwritten or typewritten notes into useful guides or reviewers when needed. It is important to note that Audio Overview is a part of the NotebookLM platform.
Google’s suite of artificial intelligence includes the first generative AI, known as the “Bard,” which laid the foundation for subsequent advancements. The latest addition to this suite is the multimodal AI, which accepts various types of input and powers most of Google’s AI capabilities. The integration of AI into everyday apps, such as Gmail, Docs, Sheets, and Slides, has proven to be highly beneficial, particularly for summarizing lengthy content. Google has also made its AI capabilities more accessible by integrating them into its smartphone lineup, enhancing the native Android operating system experience.
