New Streaming Offerings Include Olympics-Ready “Challengers” and EP from Maren Morris

A range of new television shows, films, music, and games are set to debut on various streaming platforms, offering viewers a diverse selection of entertainment options. Among the highlights are the highly anticipated Olympics-themed film “Challengers,” which makes its streaming debut on MGM+ and features notable stars such as Zendaya, Mike Faist, and Josh O’Connor. The movie, set in the competitive world of tennis, explores themes of fractured relationships, ambition, and infidelity.

Another notable addition is the French sci-fi film “The Beast,” starring Léa Seydoux and George MacKay. Loosely based on the Henry James story “The Beast in the Jungle,” the film takes viewers on a time-jumping journey through different time frames, including 1910 Paris, 2014 Los Angeles, and a dystopian 2044. Directed by Bertrand Bonello, the movie combines elements of horror and romance.

In the music realm, country-turned-pop singer Maren Morris is preparing to release a new EP titled “Intermission.” The EP, which explores themes of heartbreak, growth, and self-discovery, features collaborations with artists such as Julia Michaels. Morris’s personal experiences, including her recent divorce, may have influenced the heartfelt and powerful tracks on the EP.

Additionally, Los Angeles punk heroes X are set to release their final album, “Smoke & Fiction.” The band, which has been active for nearly 50 years, showcases their enduring sense of immediacy and energetic rockabilly punk in their swan song.

On the streaming front, Apple TV+ will debut the Spanish-language crime drama “Women in Blue,” based on a true story about Mexico’s first female police force. The series follows four women who uncover a serial killer targeting women while navigating the challenges of being part of a publicity stunt for gender equality.

Other notable releases include the return of the popular true crime series “Unsolved Mysteries” on Netflix and a new talk show on Prime Video called “Influenced,” featuring internet personalities discussing their areas of expertise.

In the gaming world, fans of the indie hit “World of Goo” can look forward to the long-awaited sequel, “World of Goo 2.” The game, developed by 2D Boy, offers players the opportunity to shape viscous black sludge into structures to guide it towards its goal.

Lastly, a new HBO documentary titled “Elizabeth Taylor: The Lost Tapes” allows the late Oscar winner to tell her own story through recently discovered audio recordings. The documentary features archival footage, personal photos, and home videos, providing an intimate look into Taylor’s rise to fame.
